Lethal Game
I kindly received this ARC from Carina Press via NG in return for an honest review. Rating- 3.5 Stars "Chemical weapons have a limit. Infect people with the right disease and it could end up everywhere." Let's jump right into the plot:
All Special Forces Communications Sergeant Connor Button wants is revenge. Surviving and IED when all of his warrior brothers died has left a hollow ache in his chest. He wants to die in duty and so he picks the most dangerous mission there could be; Protect a 24 year old physician- Captain Sophia Barry, youngest physician in the USA to have a double speciality in Virology and hematology and be part of the Biological Response Team. There is a bioweapon being developed and Sophia may be the only one to figure out how to fix it. one problem... She's dying. Connor may have gotten much more than he bargained for, and in the fire of war, he may find a reason to live.
This book was INTENSE! sorry, that had to be capslocked because it certainly was crrraazzy, nail- bitingly, on the edge of your seat type of deal! The moment this book began I totally fell in love with Connor, he is hilarious and extremely likable- in terms of personality. He is just the type of guy you love reading about, plus, he's a kick-butt hero. Don't mess with him, seriously. I love how Sophia thought of him at first: "Her bodyguard was a ninja. Now that was interesting." It was so funny how everyone was scared of Sophia and Connor comes around and doesn't let her surly demeanor faze him. He takes it all in stride which shocks her. Now WARNING- This book is pretty descriptive in EVERYTHING. Which means there is language, and sexual situations (and scenes) and gore (come on guys, we're dealing with diseases). If that makes you uncomfortable, i give thee a fair warning. (which i kind of wish i had). Other than that, this book was great, it was complex and suspenseful in a nail-biting way, you couldn't figure out what was happening next. Assassinations, kidnapping plots, intrigue, romance and a tyranical villain. If that sounds like your thing then you'll be smitten for sure.
