Tears of the Sea
"Finally, her three hundred- year nightmare would come to an end." And apparently mine would begin.... Gah this book!!! Never have i been so upset by the second half of a novel! Okay i have but this one just made me soooooo upset!!! Before i delve into that cave of woes, let's talk about the plot: Perdita desires death. So long has she waved her fins against the tide of sorrow and time- but no respite is to be found. the rocks of hades gates is the place where she seeks her demise, however, as she tries to take her life- Fate has other plans. A storm. A ship. A rescue. A captain of honour. Nothing to recommend him other than his heart of gold, Perdita realises that he may be the answer to her long wanderings. Savion may just be the man who will set her free from the shackles of a wizard's curse. Okay, so this book had little mermaid etched in it from the beginning. A wandering mermaid rescuing a handsome man who is pretty princely from drowning, and he pretty much forgets everything but her voice. Disney right? Well, i totally didn't mind that! I actually didn't mind the first half at all! I felt it was well written... a bit odd but intriguing. However, Perdita went from being annoying to downright irritating. If i could, I would've thrown my tablet at her head. That kind of annoying. You know those authors that try to do character development but just fail? this is one of them. *Spoiler zone* To be set free from the curse of the wizard, Perdita needs a man who is willing to die for her...okay? however, Savion becomes aware of the fact that she has tried MULTIPLE times to KILL him and he's OKAY with it? The romance, when the heck did he start to like her?! it was like BOOM "i loovveee heerrrrr" *cringes*
Perdita is actually so childish and selfish it BLOWS my mind!
i didn't like it. I really didn't. I gave it two stars because i felt the first half was actually enjoyable. The world building was confusing as all hell. I read it and i'm still not sure what the author was trying to do about that magical kingdom and that king who is like a...god? a king worshipped as a god? or a king who is god? who the heck knows. i dont get it and i don't have enough of a vested interest to go back to read it. i know this is harsh but folks if you read this you'll know what i mean! A positive of this book is the cover, it is gorgeous! Don't let this deter you from other MaryLu Tyndall books, she's actually got heaps of incredible ones this one was just...not. Anyway, i'll stop there, stay awesome my lovelies! The Book Herald Blog: http://thebookherald.wix.com/thebookh... Twitter- @thebookherald
