WOLF UNTAMED (Paige tyler) REVIEW

I received this ARC from Sourcebooks Casablanca via Netgalley with thanks in return for an unbiased review

This book is an action-packed paranormal/romantic suspense that had my heart pounding.

Okay, everyone! This book was caught my attention from the moment I got to the prologue, I have read two other books in this series and they were well written but I think that by far this book has exceeded the earlier novels (don't quote me too much I haven't read the more recent ones leading to this, but I'm really wanting to delve into those soon!).

Let's get into my iteration of the plot:

"Bree Harlow has had a rough life.

Her ex-husband was charged with manslaughter and her 15-year-old son has not been the same since he was shot by gang members.

When a sweet cafe/ breakfast trip with her son turns into a hostage nightmare,

Bree is at her wit's end.

Will they die here?

When hope seems lost,

In walks... a HERO, who she never thought would mean so much to her and to her son."

Overall rating 3.5- 4 stars

Why not the full 4 stars? let me tell you.

When I read a romantic-suspense novel that involves very attractive SWAT teams, I don't want to be able to guess the bad guy from the beginning. I love those "NO WAY!!!!" moments because it is thrilling and mindblowing. I didn't really get that for this book. I knew and guessed who was the bad guy and we never had a name for his 'paranormal' kind.

I would have liked some story beyond the Antarctica thing, I wanted to know the: what, how, and why's which I didn't really get.

Now what I can say I did really like are the character portrayal and writing. It was super cool and the author just pulls you into her world. Hands down, my favorite part was the prologue of this book. I felt like crying and I was so emotional just from a few pages that made me love our ML: Diego. His character at the beginning was illustrated very well.

I really want to read about when he joined the swat team and how he dealt with all the change. That's my fault, I need to read all the others, other than the now 3/11 I have delved into.

The romance, nice but somewhat...hmmm, I don't know, unfulfilling? I wanted Bree to be more badass I think. I wanted her to have more agency and show what she's capable of, I didn't really get that. I sometimes like the idea of the big hero that protects the damsel in distress but it's kind of nice when the damsel is pretty awesome but has an amazing hero who fights, not FOR her, but alongside her. This was very much a, he fights for her, kinda novel. Which I can appreciate objectively. Also, insta-love alert!

Relationship with the son? There was so much more that could possibly happen there, but again it'll probably be too many chapters but I would have loved to see some teenage angst. Most teenagers aren't so....welcoming of a new male figure after a homicidal person in their life. And I know it might have something to do with werewolf bonds, but how cool would it be if the relationship between the son and Diego was more dramatic and a slow win of confidence?

So overall, sure this story was very nice. I would have liked more suspense, more thrill, and more relationship build-up but that doesn't mean it is a bad thing without all these attributes.

Stay awesome my lovelies!
